PureFlow AirDog Fuel Preporator
The PureFlow AirDog II-5G 165 GPH A7SABC509 Air/Fuel Separation lift pump, or Fuel Preporator, is the top recommended upgrade for your 2001-2010 Chevy/GMC Duramax diesel. The fuel system on the LB7 LLY LBZ and LMM Duramax diesel is one of the most important systems when it comes to performance and reliability. This low pressure (preset at 8-10 psi) Duramax lift pump mounts to the inner frame rail using the supplied sandwich plate mounting system. This makes it almost hidden, and keeps it out of the way of rocks and debris. The pressure side of the pump connects to the injection pump feed line on the frame. The suction/fuel supply sides connect directly to your factory quick disconnect fittings and the air/vapor return is sent back to the tank through a filler neck tee making the install very straight forward.
The II-5G Duramax Fuel Pump features a fully adjustable (7-55psi) integrated diaphragm pressure regulator. This regulator offers more consistent fuel pressure and allows for higher flow rates at pressure. It can also be boost compensated to battle any pressure drops under open throttle (boost compensation kits sold seperately). The AirDog 2 5G also includes un upgraded, larger 12 gauge wiring harness with Metri-pack 280 connectors, which allows for higher current flow without creating excessive heat.
Over the life of your diesel pickup truck you may install systems that may be putting unnecessary stress on your fuel system. High mileage and/or additional performance modifications such as a tuner or over size injectors can also weaken your injection pump, or CP3. This will shorten the amount of running time you will get out of them in comparison to the stock fuel system. This may lead to a drop in performance, reliability, and fuel efficiency. Due to the fact the LB7/LLY/LBZ/LMM Duramax does not have a factory lift pump, these trucks usually see the most benefit from an AirDog lift pump fuel system. (see How It Works)
